LighthouseYamba  is situated at the mouth of the Clarence River in Northern NSW, about seven hours north of Sydney and three hours south of Brisbane. Yamba is a wonderful holiday destination – it has great beaches, a marina, and lots of cafes, a broad river and a lighthouse. According to scientists, Yamba also has one of the best climates in the world, with temperate winters and long, warm, summer days.

BeachYamba has eleven fantastic beaches to choose from.  There are safe, sheltered beaches for families as well as crashing waves for those who prefer the wild surf.  There are three beaches patrolled in Yamba - Main SurfingBeach, Turners and Pippis.  Main Beach is where the Yamba Surf Life Saving Club is situated, it has a 33 metre salt water rock pool, cafe, toilets, showers, picnic tables.  You can surf straight in front of pool or beach, snorkel in northern corner, protected from southerly and northerly winds.

FishingThe area is great for fishing. There is a large local fishing fleet and in fact Yamba, Iluka and Maclean catch 20 per cent of the state’s seafood. Anglers have a choice of rock, beach, estuary or deep-sea fishing spots. Boats are available for hire or charter, and houseboats and cruisers are another holiday option. Yamba is especially known for its prawns and oysters.

National ParksYamba is noted for the beauty of its natural surrounds,.  There are two national parks anda world heritage listed nature reserve close by.  For further information on Yuraygir National Park, Bundjalung National Park, or the Iluka Nature Reserve visit the NSW National Parks website.

Whale watching is one of the great attractions of Yamba. The migrating whales, most commonly the Humpback and the Southern Right Whale species, are most commonly seen during August and September they make their way to warmer waters to calve. Good viewing spots are the Yamba Lighthouse, Yamba Breakwall, Angourie and Green Point and SeafoodLovers Point. Tours can be arranged with one of the charter companies in the area.

Other activities you might like to undertake include: taking one of the historical walks finishing up at the local museum. You might like to check out the marina, hire a boat, or take a relaxing river cruise. Don't forget the local restaurants, club ,coffee shops, galleries, and local shopping spots.
